What the heck is http://about.me/ all about

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Shoreline New Hampshire & Maine

Why it's about me...er, you of course, hence the name.

Most of us have many online personas scattered all about the web and until now there has been no central location to point or send people to have one single online identity that directs visitors out to wherever they need or want to go.

Enter https://about.me/

In a quick to set up template site you can easily compile all your online personas into one page and direct all the friends and visitors there to find you on websites like Facebook, twitter, your personal blog, and lots of other sites; all gathered together in one, easy to find splash page.

You can set up the background, font sizes, easily install your Facebook and other links to social media and any other place you want people to go.

I pointed www.JimLee.com to mine so now if a visitor goes to that site he can find me on Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, my 3 blogs, website, and not to mention my office contact information.

Having a few outbound links to your other websites from here also can't hurt your Google Juice too.

Hurry on over to http://about.me/ and get yours set up today. You can also name it your name or a geographic area like the city or area you do business in as long as that name is available. Since this is pretty new most are.

Here's another sample of what you do.

Thanks for the inf Jim. I saw this site the other day when I was looking for AroundMe.com. Must have made a typo. I bookmarked it and was going to come back to it.

This is such a good idea.  I was wondering Jim if you ever forget where you are working  now and mention the wrong state?

Buying or Selling? Ann & Jim are the local experts

I do have to stop and think often Kristal since I'm still licensed and doing business in Tennseee as well as New Hampshire. I also work for two different companies, RE/MAX in New Hampshire and Realty Executives in Tennessee so it's a challenge sometimes. I don't believe I've made a mistake yet but I'm sure I will.

Missy I think we'll probably make the most use as a contact page where all our stuff can be found in one location. Probably also some SEO benefit as well.

I know what you all mean about forgetting you've done something online. I often 'find' a new site and start to create an account only to be told that email address is already registered there.
