There are a lot of exciting things happening around Fort Hood, Texas in the Real Estate Community. First, there are many of our service members that will still qualify to get a tax credit when they purchase a primary residence in Fort Hood, Texas. This means that a lot of our service members will be able to take advantage of this great incentive by the government until the end of April. We always recommend that our clients speak to their tax advisor first to verify that they know whether they qualify for the tax credit prior to writing a contract.

Interest rates are still at record lows, especially with the Texas Veterans Land Board. Due to recent changes in the TexVet qualifications, more veterans than ever will qualify for the awesome interest rates that they have to offer. Texas Veterans Land Board "TexVet" sets interest rates once a week (on Friday afternoon). The interest rate as of January 19, 2011 was 4.57%. Texas Veterans Land Board also offers a 1/2% interest rate reduction for Disabled Veterans. View their website at: http://www.texasveterans.com. They also offer financing for land purchases greater than 1 acre in the State of Texas. The interest rate for land was 7.25% as of January 19, 2011.
