Choosing the right Realtor

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Centre City

7 Things To Look for When Choosing Your Realtor (Whether you are buying or selling a property)

1. Dont always choose the Realtor with the flashiest advertising or the most radio ads.  Money can by

publicity, but doesnt always guarantee the best service.

2. Ask your family and friends who they would recommend from previous experiences

3. Go to some open houses in your area and meet some of the Realtors. You will click with some more

    than others.

4. Choose a Realtor that displays confidence, is enthusiastic, and that if they dont have the answer to

something, they are always willing to find it.

5. Choose someone who is persistant, and listens and understands your housing needs

6. Choose a full-time Realtor. This will assure that the search for you home is full-time as well.

7. Don't always choose the Realtor that has been around the longest.  Newer Realtors are eager, agressive

and dedicated to helping you reach your goals.

There's no substitute for EXPERIENCE!

Great tips, Melissa!  Numbers 1, 6 and 7 resonate the loudest.  1 & 6 especially since the "top agent" in my area has the largest print ads, but they are also employed full time by a national courier service and can't be reached from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm!

Melissa.. I agree with all of these except # 7.  I have found that ones that have been in the business a lot time, know the demographics and the history of the area more than newcomers.

Also, I've ALWAYS stressed... INTERVIEW, INTERVIEW, INTERVIEW.  No matter what, you will never know if the Realtor you have chosen has your best interest in mind, unless you have spoken with them.  Don't always go by what "your grocery" said... you are dealing with a lot of money and stress.  It would be good to find one that takes that off your shoulders.

I think most folks pick a Realtor, "because they like them" not necessarily the best method.
