I had not thought about the public library having an online presence. It seems kind of odd for some strange reason. I’ll have to check ours. Could be some interesting stuff going on.
KPBS and the San Diego Public Library just released the name of the One Book One San Diego selection for 2011: “The Gangster We Are All Looking For,” written by lê thi diem thúy. It’s a true-life novel about a Vietnamese family that immigrated to San Diego. It’s told by the family’s daughter, who was six years old when they came to San Diego. Should be an interesting read, and we’ve already had lots of requests for it at Borders Books and Music where I also work.
Library events are big in my book! I love the local outreach and sponsoring of free cultural events, sometimes. Non-cyber, local libraries, offer enrichment.
