Fixer Upper in Philadelphia: Fishtown
We have plenty of them around. They are all over Philadelphia. We call'em Fixer Uppers. The pros are doing doing it and even the amateurs are getting down and dirty fixing up the Fixer Upper in Fishtown. It is all the rage.
We just helped one of our awesome clients, Michael, buy a Short Sale Fixer Upper property in Fishtown. It was a fantastic deal for him. His mortgage payments are going to be even less than what he was paying in rent! And his tax deductions as a homeowner are going to net him a big smile when he files his tax returns!
Michael settled on his Fishtown home last week and he already sent me a few photos from his Blackberry of the preliminary stages of his renovation.

Above: The formal "Breakfast Nook". There used to be outdated paneling covering the walls.
Above: You can barely see the drop ceiling but it is there. Say "bye-bye" to the old fashioned soffit.
Above: The paneling in the kitchen covered this beautiful arched doorway. A long forgotten design trend that Michael will preserve.
