365 things to do in Worcester County - Tour a brewery in Westminster. Did you know that we have an authentic local brewery right here in Worcester County? Did you know that it's as close as a drive to Westminster, one of my favorite Worcester County towns? Let me give you a little history and information on the tours they offer:
Wachusett Brewery started with three Worcester Polytechnic Institute friends who decided not to pursue their carreers in engineering and biology and opted to create their own brand of beer. Ned, Kevin and Quinny opened the Wachusett Brewery Co. in 1993. Wachusett Country Ale was introduced to beer fans of Massachusetts the next year after lots of experimenting to get the formula just right. When Wachusett opened, the three designed and built most of the equipment; did the brewing and filling, selling and delivering, and everything else that a small startup brewery needed.
Tours and Tastings
Tours of the brewery are offered Wednesday to Saturday starting at noon. Your tour guide will give you a brief history of the brewery and walk you through the operation. Children are welcome, but may not taste beer. The tour and the tasting last for about 1 hour, and tastings are limited to two 2-ounce samples. Phone: 978-874-9965.
