You've Come A Long Way Baby, And How Content Has Changed

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Sometimes I like to throw out there a little bit of perspective and perhaps you might call it humor in our times for our daily lives. People say all the time the world changes and then sometimes really nothing ever truly changes or nothing new really under the sun. Well arguments can be made for any of that but change, however you see it, is going on around us constantly. I write this post to illustrate this and perhaps bring a little education, perspective, and smile to your day.

First, a word from our sponsors. Well if we had sponsors. LOL. Back around 1968 the Virginia Slims brand of cigarettes for lady professionals had these long and slimmer than normal cigarettes they offered up with the slogan, "You've come a long way, baby." Meaning women could have THEIR OWN unique style of cigarette apart from those men with the Marlboro stubby size fat ones. Well it was extremely successful in its day and that was the CONTENT for the day that attracted the eyeballs and moved people to action.

Second, content is still king whether in print ads, television, or what you see on web sites and it needs to keep changing from before, from the day before or years or decades before to remain king. So with that said, LOOK at the content of these newspaper or magazine ads from yesteryear and you tell ME whether the world has changed or not? Some of these would not pass the sniff test of ethically or politically correct in today's day and age. At all !!!

       Enjoy.

Yeah, Gary, it kinda makes you wonder what they will be snickering about decades from now when they look back on the ads from these days. I'm sure we'll all look quite the fool. LOL!

Holy cow, Gary, where did you find these? I do remember watching Howdy Doody, though. But that blow in her face and she'll follow you anywhere ad for cigarette tips is disgusting. Cigars, cigarettes, tiparillos? Remember THAT commercial?

This blast from the past with the ads really we have to remember these people WERE NOT trying to be funny in those days, that was the culture of the day. You all are right, the wife was the little woman, the June Cleaver, but even go way back with the cocaine toothache drops. SHOCKING! I think the deal with giving the appliances, it truly was a treat cause all those new fangled things we didn't have. Now everyone has a blender or a toaster. Ha Ha, we are so spoiled nowadays with all those many birthday and Christmas gifts along the way. And any man in his right mind would NEVER give a vacuum cleaner to the woman these days. More like "maid services" to help out around the house : )

Elisa: My venture into SMILE LAND for today. Can't be too serious with these posts every day. The blowing smoke in her face would NEVER work today, you'd be considered a JERK. Amazing how times change.
