A few days ago i introduced to a new program that my friend Sean Patrick is launching. (Million Monarchs- A Solar Company with a Social Mission.) Sean is doing important work here in the Portland Metro area by developing community owned micro solar farms. Each week I get an exciting update from Million Monarchs regarding the strides that they are making to bring safe and affordable power options to neighborhoods throughout the Pacific Northwest. Some exciting developments over here as we continue to work through our start-up process for Million Monarchs. We're taking our "Solar with a Social Mission" vision very seriously - and it's being noticed!
We've just formed a strong relationship with the Northwest Institute for Community Enrichment ( http://thenice.org/ ). We'll be supporting some of their work with the "Summer of Solutions" programs here in the Northwest ( http://grandaspirations.org/summer-of-solutions/about ).
This is an excellent opportunity to engage students, communities and institutions in the process of becoming Solar Power Producers. With the end of the Business Energy Tax Credits in Oregon, and more difficulties ahead for the Federal Treasury Solar Grant, finding creative energy solutions has never been more important.
I'll keep you posted on our progress - we hope to have a website up and running by April 2nd.
...In the meantime, our "Solar for Oregon Rental Properties" program is moving right along - even with our April 11th deadline, it looks like we'll be able to empower a rental property in the Multnomah neighborhood of Portland this coming May.
