Canadian Thinking About Buying in Washington State?

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with Windermere Real Estate / NCW

I'm getting ready to marry a Canadian and I can tell you that lots of Allyson's Canadian relatives own properties in the U.S. We asked a friend from Arizona to tell us a little more about this subject.

Come visit our blog to learn more about what Canadians need to know about purchasing real estate in the United States.

WOW - what a timely blog, Geordie.  I am listing a property here in Tsawwassen tomorrow -and guess where they are buying?  Lynden WA.

(Just hope you guys "get" us Canadians wacky personalities and can live with our passion for hockey over politics!)

Thanks Wendy. We're big hockey fans in this house. Did you like the photo I used from the Gold medal game? Sorry to see the Canucks unable to shut down Nashville the other night.

Do you have any other thoughts to pass along to Canadian buyers buying down here in the states?

My name is Chris Wyatt and I am a Canadian Lending Specialist with RBC Bank (USA), the U.S. presents of the Royal Bank of Canada. I work primarily with Canadians moving to the U.S. for work and those looking to purchase a second/vacation home. The purchase and mortgage process is much different than in Canada and can be draining on the client. Educating these borrowers is very key. How to hold title, why financing in the U.S. verse paying cash or using equity from Canadian home? That is where being a Canadian Lending Specialist can add value to your client's experience.

On a regular basis I hear from Canadian clients that they asked their Canadian realtor or mortgage specialist about purchasing in the U.S., but they can not assist them or point them in the right direction. I work with a network of US realtors who can assist these clients and add value to you as their real estate professional.

Please do not hestiate to contact me for additional information.
