If you plan to visit the New England area this summer, here are a couple of easy car ride locations worth seeing while in New Hampshire.

Mount Washington

Mount Washington is the perfect place for a nature lover. The surrounding area offers several hiking trails and numerous rivers to enjoy. For those feeling a little more adventurous, it’s also the highest peak in New England at 6,288ft, which is great for the climbing expert. For the rest of us, a drive up to the peak to enjoy its wondrous views is more enjoyable. The Observatory is also located at Mount Washington, which has record-breaking winds and temperatures during severe winter weather. This summer is the perfect time to check out this world famous mountain with your friends and family.

The Flume Gorge

One of the Many New Hampshire State parks, offering breath taking views and the natural wonder of waterfalls and a deep river gorge all easily found off I 93. The Flume gorge parking area also offers a paved bike path that travels through the Franconia Notch state park and a starting point for several worth while hikes in to the White Mountains national forest. Lincoln NH ; Also offers the only live bear show in the area at Clark’s Trading post, Gondola sky rides at Loon Mt. One of the Largest water parks in the State at the Whale’s Tale, The largest zip line adventure in New Hampshire and kayaking on the Pemigewasset river (guided tours available). Much more adventures –check out the chamber of commerce.

Lake Winnipesaukee

One of New Hampshire’s most popular destinations in the summer months is Lake Winnipesauke, which offers a wide variety of activities for all. Visitors can discover the numerous towns surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee by boat or by car. Take a cruise on board the M/S Mount Washington at nearby Weirs Beach or enjoy historic Meredith, with its restored mill village.

My eldest's first camping trip ever was to Lake Winnepesakie and his first ski experience was Attitash. We are going back east next summer; gonna check out the old stomping ground.

Steve, I have been to the Flume Gorge, and Lake Winnipesaukee but oddly enough I have never been to the top of Mount Washington.  Guess I need to make another trip to New Hampshire.
