Dennis Quaid’s Equestrian Retreat Gets $3M Price Cut

Actor Dennis Quaid's home first hit the Pacific Palisades real estate market in March 2011 with an asking price of $16.9 million. Recently the home was dropped a whopping $3 million in price, down to $13.9 million, which makes sense as median Los Angeles home values have dropped 7.5 percent year-over-year. Despite the significant price cut, the 56-year-old actor still stands to make a profit - he bought the home in 1999 for a reported $1,830,00.

Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, completely transformed the home in 2008, turning it into a French-style equestrian estate with the help of Hollywood interior design duo John and Krista Everage.

The Everages added farmhouse touches for the Texas-born actor, including rough-hewn beams from a Pennsylvania barn, earth-tone colors as well as antique finds from France. Quaid and his wife also spent considerable time on the exterior of the home, purchasing an adjacent lot which allowed them to add horse stables. The finished home and an interview with Quaid was featured in Architectural Digest.

Despite all the personal touches on the Brentwood estate, apparently family is a bigger draw for the celebrity. Quaid, his wife and their twins are moving to Quaid's home state of Texas to be closer to family.

Quaid's 8,400-sq ft home has 8 bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, formal dining room, office, wine cellar, and master suite with dual baths, private balcony and fireplace.

The grounds feature a new putting green, pool and spa, horse stables, corrals and private horse riding and hiking trails. The home also has direct access to miles of trails at Will Rogers State Park. Despite the two-minute distance to Sunset Boulevard, Quaid's home feels private and remote.

The listing is held by agent Kathrin Nicholson of Westside Estate Agency.
