Psst...Hey, You Want Some Housing Statistics?

Being the numbers junkie that I am, I found it shocking that no one was keeping (or at least sharing with me) track of the important housing metrics.  You know what I am talking about.  Is the market up or down?  How long are homes on the market?  How many listings/sales this last month?

So, I simply had to go and create them myself!

StatisticsClick on the photo to the left and you will be taken to a PDF of the metrics I currently chart from the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors monthly report.  The data is charted for the last thirtysix months to show interested parties how the trends currently appear.

Long story short:  lots of inventory, flattening 12 month average trend line of the number of new listings per month, sales off by nearly 12% for the year, and a "back of the envelope" average number of days on market of 167 days.  Check the report for the whole story.

For those not familiar with the current economic climate and housing market in Michigan, it's....challenging.  To point out that the Ann Arbor Area Board is only showing an average sales price drop of 1.87% is a testament to the level of "churn" due to the universities and industries within Washtenaw County.  Compared to the rest of S.E. Michigan (some areas down as much as 15%), we are a veritable island of stability.

Note:  statistics are based on the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors monthly report and only cover stats to do with houses and condominiums within Washtenaw County, Michigan.
