Speechless Sunday: My Mother Visits Uncle Dominic

By
Real Estate Agent with RLAH@properties AB95346

My mother was an artist, and she loved the French Impressionists.  And Paul Cézanne may have been one of her favorites.  When we were in Paris in 2009, we visited the D'Osay Museum and it was like going to see old friends.

Cézanne painted his "Uncle Dominic" series, using his uncle, Antoine Dominque, as the model.  He posed as a monk and in this painting, an attorney.  This is my mother greeting Cézanne's favorite uncle at the D'orsay.

An artist and a musician in the same family...that is some serious talent there!

Cezanne is one of my very favorites, too.  The Impressionists are my particular favorites.  Cezanne-Suzanne....maybe a connection.

Your mother was one classy lady!

That's a great photo of your Mom and it looks like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - at least as far as talent goes.  Glad you got to share this special visit with her.

Pat - Paris is my favorite city in the world! Visiting with your mom - what a wonderful memory! I showed my mom Paris years ago as well. She was in a wheelchair and I parked right in front of Notre Dame de Paris and wheeled her in. The police never gave me a ticket for parking illegally either and when we went to  the back of the church where the steps are, everyone assisted with the wheelchair.

You should have seen me wheeling around France with a wheelchair on top of my Audi, strapped to the luggage rack!
