Hot Summer Apps for Real Estate Agents

By
Real Estate Agent with Castelazo Marketing Ltd.

Summer is definitely here and it has brought some hot new Smartphone apps along with it. If you’re the agent who has to have the latest when it comes to technology (you know who you are!), read on.

An app – or application – is a helpful software program on your Smartphone that makes everyday to-do’s easier. Apps are all about ease, convenience, organization (and, sometimes, fun). Most apps you can find for free or at a low cost (and often well worth it).

Where to find apps for real estate agents

For most Smartphone operating systems, there are thousands of apps to choose from.  Most Smartphones have an app store pre-loaded, where you can browse the different apps. Once you find one that you’re interested in, the next step is to download it.  (Note that you can delete an app any time if you have no use for it anymore, creating more room on your Smartphone for more apps.)

The top 5 hottest new apps for real estate agents

1. Flickr
Flickr is one of the best online photo management and sharing applications out there. Created by Yahoo!, Flickr allows you to upload photos and share them – sort of like the YouTube for photos. You can easily connect your Flickr account to Facebook, Twitter, your blog, etc., making it easy to transfer photos to and from your different social media applications.

Real estate agents use Flickr to upload pictures of homes that are on the market and other pictures that are interesting and relevant to the people in their social networks. Again, the more you’re sharing in more places online, the more chances you’re giving prospects to find you.

2. ooVoo
ooVoo.com offers free multi-person video chatting on mobile devices and online. ooVoo makes it easy to stay connected to those who are far away (like buyers and sellers or referring agents in other cities, states, even countries). ooVoo offers video calling, video chat room, video call recording, and video messages.

3. Glympse
Glympse is a new app that realtors use to let others know their location. Send a Glympse from your mobile device when you’re on your way to a listing appointment or to meet your buyers. With GlympseWatch™ you can specify how long you want to post your location (like if you’re showing an open house on Saturday from 12-4).

4. Swiftkey X
Swiftkey X is the “next-generation artificial intelligence keyboard” for Android Smartphones and tablets.  Essentially, it’s auto-correct on major steroids. (It learns about your typing styles through data from your Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail accounts, as well as from your previous text messages.)  Try it out here.

5. ePrint
ePrint is an app that makes it possible for busy realtors to print on the go. After downloading the app you can print e-mails, e-mail attachments, and photos to an HP ePrint mobile printing location (found at select retail shops like FedEx Office, airports, libraries, and hotels).
