Moody's Corporation
Moody's Corporations is a credit rating agency that conducts financial research and analysis on commerical and government entities and ranks the credit worthiness of its subjects.
Moody's was founded in 1909 by John Moody.
Moody's grades as follows:
Aaa- the highest quality with the smallest degree of risk
Aa( 1-3)- High quality- very low credit risk
A (1-3)- upper medium grade, low credit risk, but may suggest some impairment over the long term
Baa1, Baa2, Baa3- moderate risk-
Ba1, BA2, Ba3- questionable credit quality
B1, B2, B3- subject to high credit risk- poor credit quality
Caa1, Caa2, Caa3- poor standing- high credit risk- poor credit quality
Ca- usually in default on obligations
C- the lowest class- potential recovery values are low
P-1- superior ability to repay short term obligations
P-2- strong ability to repay short term obligations
p-3- acceptable ability to repay short term obligations
