How often do you check your e-mails?

How often do you check your e-mails?

While sitting in line to get my daughters car inspected, a lady called into the radio station and wanted opinions from the listeners to see if it was her or them. (Her discussion was a TOTALLY different discussion and I won’t go into that!)

Well, this got me thinking about an e-mail that I received yesterday.  So my questions are the following:

1.      How often do you check your e-mails?

2.      Do you have a smart phone that you receive e-mails on?  If so, how often do you check those e-mails?

3.      When you communicate with a listing agent, do you call, text or e-mail the most?

The reason I ask these questions is because I was communicating with the listing agent on a property on Tuesday evening.  Her last e-mail to me was, “what time do you want to see the house?”  That e-mail came to me after 10pm.  I didn’t see it until the next morning (I do sleep at the night time and don’t check e-mails).

I responded back to her before 8:30 am saying we would be seeing the house at noon and if there was a problem to let me know.

At 3pm, I receive this e-mail from the listing agent:

“My client told me that you already saw the property and as you know no one is checking the email every hour, so if you need to contact, then calling or texting would be much better way to communicate.”

Was very surprised to see that no one check e-mails during “NORMAL WORKING” hours!  So that got me thinking.  Is it me or is it her?

I check my e-mails as soon as they come to my phone---if I can (and during normal business hours).  My thoughts are if I don’t check my e-mails, how many leads am I missing?  I try to respond to all e-mails within the first hour of receiving them.  Again, is it me or her?

So, I guess I am asking is it me or her?  Should I have expected a realtor to be checking e-mails in the morning and through out the day?

Stephanie, I do the same thing. I have an alert set up. I don't think there is a way NOT to check this day and age!

Cindy and Krista,

I agree with both of you.  The last 2 days, I haven't been on top of mine as I should because I have been out showing properties with out of town buyers.  You still have to check because as Krista said, you might be missing out!

Stephanie,

It just sounds like an excuse from another real estate person ( I did not say Realtor or Real Estate professional) not doing there clients the services deserved to them. I totaly agree with you and my email alarm on my phone  is actually, "You have mail" from the AOL fame.

Same thing, I check them emails often, but if I'm busy ( meeting, training, etc. or spend time with my family) emails can wait.(If something urgently needs my attention, someone will call or text me, right?)
