Starting this year, Bedford County Public Schools are staggering their start times. Meaning the Elementary Schools start and dismiss earlier that the Middle and High Schools.
Why do we have different start times? Bedford County like other schools systems around the country, has had to pursue cost cutting. Stagering school hours of operations has allowed Bedford County Public Schools to reduce the size of the school buss fleet and drivers.
So, what time does my Bedford County Public School begin and end? Bedford County Elementary Schools allow students to arrive as early as 7:30 am, with school starting at 7:55. Once your child arrives, they will have a choice of a couple of supervised activities.
Bedford County Middle Schools doors open at 8:30 am with classes beginning at 8:50 am. School dismissal time is 3:35 pm for bus riders and students who are car riders or walkers are dismissed at 3:40 pm.
Bedford County High Schools also open their doors at 8:30 with school starting at 8:50 and letting out at 3:335 pm.
Many of the schools offer after school programs for those whose parents work.
