I'm Not Going to stand up here on my and spout about animal rights and animal welfare...I am technically a vegetarian but I still wear leather and I drink milk..My choices are just that... MINE..and I don't believe in forcing my ideals on those around me (although my husband may disagree with that statement).
Every Week I attend a livestock auction and network to save all the horses that are sold to the kill pen in hopes that we can save America's horses from Canadian and Mexico slaughter bound trucks.
My own beautiful Percheron Cross Bishop is one of the horses I watched run through the auction and sell to the kill pen...lucky for both of us he is now out in pasture with all his buddies instead of on someones plate. (see Bishop's Story @ www.njestatesandstables.com about us)
Horse, Cow, Chicken..who am I to judge on what's appropriate to eat and what's not. Meat is Meat ...right
I know in my heart the horrific suffering these animals endure for our eating pleasures but I am not going to fill this blog with dread and photos of slaughter and pre slaughter scenes.
I AM sickened by the factory farms we have in this country. I will get on my for this matter..What are we doing to America's farmers...our greed for cheap mass amounts of meat is creating a monster and I mean a MONSTER..You don't have to dig very far to uncover what factory farms are doing to this country and YOUR families health.
BUT....I promised I wouldn't go on and on about my personal preferences and I choose to end the blog with a photo I thought evoked some thought. It's cute..it's not little kittens playing with a ball of string ......it's also REAL and I hope that if you do consume products from this animal (or any animal) be it meat or milk or leather, that you will think twice about throwing it away and where you purchase it from. Support Local Farmers when possible and get educated about what you put into your and your families mouth and on your body.
