I was fortunate enough to be able to join Chris Ann Cleland for lunch at Blue Ridge Seafood in Gainesville last week. Yep. That's my plate of fried oysters pictures below. It's certainly not a fancy place, but it's a great little "greasy spoon."

If you are driving too fast down Route 29, you may just miss the Blue Ridge Seafood Restaurant in Gainesville, VA. There in the shadow of the new Madison Crescent Shopping Center, near the intersection of Route 15 and Route 29 in Gainesville is a seafood diner that you simply must try.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. While the exterior of the restaurant may not be perfect, and it really looks more like a house than a restaurant, inside is real good food and super friendly service just waiting for you.
My friend, Anne and I stopped by last Friday for lunch. Anne had been before and proclaimed a real love for their fried oysters. Coming from Anne, a non-seafood eating person, this is BIG praise. After looking over the menu and debating a few choices, I landed on something I hadn't had in years--broiled scallops augratin. I chose a baked potato and coleslaw as my sides. And thank goodness it came with three hush puppies.
The food was good, service excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The desert was a fudge brownie sundae. Clearly, that was gobbled down before the camera could snap a photo.
Blue Ridge Seafood Restaurant is not open for lunch every day of the week. They open at Noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They open at 3pm Tuesday through Thursday. They close at 9pm Sunday and Tuesday-Thursday. They are open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Don't get your mouth set for Blue Ridge Seafood on Mondays. That's the one day they happen to be closed.
