Get out your leiderhosen! Oktoberfest is coming to Vienna, VA!
For those of you that are looking for a great family event this weekend in Northern Virginia, come check out Vienna's Oktoberfest this Saturday, October 1st. The festival runs from 11am - 7pm around the pedestrian-friendly Historic Church Street in downtown Vienna. According to the event website, there's going to be something for everyong - food, beer garden, children's activities, and live entertainment on two stages (a main stage and a children's stage).
With all of this cloudy, rainy weather we've been having, Vienna Oktoberfest seems to have landed on a good day. The weather forecast for Saturday is a partly cloudy with a high of 59. Perfect for taking the family out!

Bonus Info: History of Oktoberfest
The first Oktoberfest was held in Munich, Germany on October 12, 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The event started out with only with horse races, with the addition of beer tents in 1896. While beer tents are the main feature you think of during Oktoberfest, the festival grounds also include many children's rides, food stands, and entertainment.
