Each day we change and each day we emerge different. Technology has not always been kind to us. Since technology reshaped our world, we have been in perpetual learning overload with more capabilities and more data to manipulate. The face to face and the handshake took second place to emails, cell phones, Facebook and Twitter. Is it a good thing....well yes and no. If it has you abandoning the old ways of staying in touch and building relationships then it is NOT a good thing. If you are implementing technology to help you stay in touch and continue to build relationships then it is a good thing. The old and the new combine to bring us new opportunity and better results for our business.
I am going to use the analogy of my husband and how he works on his Photo Art. He is a blended soul of creativity. He can entertain twenty things at one time and have twenty projects incubating in his conscious mind. He seems to know no boundaries and only sees endless connection to creativity in random and spontaneous insight. He uses new and he uses old technologies in his work. I learn from David on a daily basis and I benefit by being his friend.
In his work he uses a digital DSLR but most of his work has come from many other cameras new and old a like. Some of his best work came from a pocket camera that came free with signing up for DSL service with AT&T. It has since died and gone to Heaven. He is also the owner of a Lubitel camera that has resulted in many of his creative works. He is the owner of two Mamiya C33 Professional cameras that have yet to be given his attention. He and a dear friend are about to embark on exploring the latest trendy talk about these camera and how it is emerging back on the scene. Because of David's work with the Lubitel, a very gracious friend gave David these two cameras. We are excited to see what will come from this work. The cameras were once owned by Earle Luby, who was the Writer for Walter Cronkite on his TV series the "Twentieth Century" and also a Documentary Film Maker .
David also owns a Horseman camera that will allow him to explore the world of large format photography and the cool thing is that now they make an attachment to set up your digital camera to the back of the Horseman. This is also coming work and a project that we are excited about.
Blending the old and the new can be the best of all. Relationship is key in all things in our business and in life. Connection allows us to know endless opportunity. Building those relationships in our business will never be second on the list but always the first priority. Technology is wonderful and can help us stay in touch. Use it creatively to build those relationships just as David uses old and new for his creative works. It's a good thing!
We all know what that first photo is...our Canon Rebel...we both have this camera. The next photo is of David's Lubitel and the two Mamiya C33 cameras. The last one is of the Horseman and the final one shows how you can attach your DSLR camera to it. Below are some of David's works that came from his work with the Lubitel.
