The Twighlight Zone

This morning was not unlike many mornings. I awoke a little earlier than normal, usually I wake up around 5:30 or a quarter to 6:00. As my Eyes began to focus I noticed first that it was still a little dark outside. The clock on the dresser with it's bright red numbers beaming back at me said 5:40 am.

Now on the weekends I continue my daily ritual of having coffee at my local coffee shop in Portland Or. The_University_Park_Coffee_Housedoes not open til 7:00 am on the weekends. So on the weekends I generally will languish an hour more in bed before getting up.

Just shortly after my dresser clock showed 7:00 am I was out the door into the heavy fog of this chilly Fall morning. As I pulled up to the curb I noticed that the Coffee Shops tent sign usually out on the street corner was missing. In fact the lights were out as well. Sure enough the door was locked. I quickly checked my watch and to my amazement noticed that it was almost 8:30am.

As I entered the restaurant next door, known to open at 8:00 am on the weekends I asked what time is it? It's 8:25 Jessica answered. Slightly bewildered I realized that the clock on the Dresser had reset itself last night for daylight savings time automatically a full week ahead of this years changed schedule.

Further confusing me was the fact that Shari had overslept and had not opened The University Park Coffee on time. For a brief moment I could see Rod Serling's sly little smile as I had taken a brief step into the Zone

Too funny!  I had a panic attack last night thinking I needed to change the clock but discovered it was next weekend not this.

Funny story, did you try to see is if the clock on your dresser can stop time? lol....In case you don't get my humor, while I was reading your story I was remembering the episode with the guy that could stop time with his watch.

Herb - I think maybe a few people found themselves in similar position this morning.  Now you will be prepared for the real change.

I have a couple of clocks that have been wrong for six months - now if I can be patient just a little longer...

(It's been said future archeologists will excavate our ruins and conclude we worshipped clocks - they are EVERYWHERE!)

we had a couple do this - and so did Dan Cummings - too funny how we depend on technology then it messes us up.

Herb I know how that feels! Bridget's PHONE reset itself and I have the same style of phone and mine did not. My laptop and the TV didn't reset but it confused the heck out of us! haha...

Rick,

That is funny huh? Technology created by humans will naturally have many of the same flaws that we as individuals have.
