My last memory of Papa

My last memory of my grandfather before he had his stroke involved he & I visiting an office supply store. It was in the early 1993 and I was spending the day with him moving an old file cabinet which he no longer needed from his home to mine. On the way to my place, he said that he needed to stop into the store to purchase something. To this day I do not remember the item, but I do remember is this .....

The cashier rang up the item/items and told him the total was $9.67. My grandfather proceeded to pull out his wallet and could not find any money in it. He then pulsout wallet #2 and can't find any money. He goes back to wallet #1 and pulls out his AAA card and hands it to the cashier, and I'm thinking.... Rut roh, something isn't right. The cashier politely told him that she could not use the AAA card so he pulls out the wallet again. Anyway, this keeps going and as time goes by the line of people behind us is getting longer. Finally I suggest that I pay and so we are on our way.

My grandfather then suggests that we stop for lunch and so we do. It was one of those cafeteria style restaurants and as we get to the register I thinking .....Oh no, here we go again. The cashier rings up our food, give my grandfather the total, and he pulls out his wallet. Pulls out the needed cash and pays the lady. Nowww, I'm thinking....how the heck did he not have any problem finding the cash this time but could not find it 8 minutes ago?....Ohwell.
