Bee Friendly Plants for the Garden.

Plant a diversified array to attract bees and other wild life to your garden, be it flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables. Native plants are best because they will need less watering, pesticides and fertilizer than non native plants. Consult with your local nursery; local gardeners to find what will thrive in your neighborhood.

Your Napa Valley Broker Extraordinaire

Hi

About fours weeks ago, we had a fascinating presentation about bees at the Thursday morning MLS meeting by Richard  Kramer of Swarm Busters. I learned more in 30 minutes than what I knew about them during my entire life. If you every need his services and live in the Napa Valley area, please call him at 707.260.5327. He will come and remove the swarm for free. He also will help you set up bee hives for you to maintain or he will and you will get honey out of the deal.

He knows many beekeepers in the Bay Area so if he can't help you, email him at rkldesign@sbcglobal.net The Design aspect is he also designs private estate home gardens. Good resource and good guy.

David, I have two green thumbs, one from paining the other from spilling a shamrock shake on it.  Thanks for the tips, it's a good life.

Im not really a fan of bees even though I knot the benefits of bees but your list was quite interesting .Anyway would you happen to know of plants that attract butterflies?  Thinking of a Spring project for my niece.

Great Post David.  I was watching Daily Planet today and they had a segment on people that transplant Bumblebee hives rather than poison them. My parents have a lot of Bee and Butterfly friendly plants, us, considerably less so...

Great post on keeping those important bees around!  I wish I could think of gardens and flowers, but that will have to wait awhile longer as I'll be shoveling snow another handful of months!

David I love gardening so this post really appealed to me.  I have the majority of those plants you mentioned..  I also love to attract butterflies so I plant butterfly bushes:)
