Keystone Colorado opens today for ski season. Today's activities will be known as Dercum day in honor of the resorts cofounders Max and Edna Dercum. A special dedication is planned for nine o'clock this morning just prior to the lifts opening there will be live music at the base area starting at 8 AM. Keystone workers will again hand out free coffee free hot chocolate and doughnuts at the River Run base area. This Wednesday Arapahoe basin ski area opened. There will be plenty of skiing from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain skiers and riders should take caution and be respectful of other participants. Keystone and is ready to roll out the white carpet, Spring Dipper and River run trails serviced by the River Run gondola will be open and running at full capacity beginners will have to learning areas one at the top of the mountain and one at the base of the gondola. The mountains early season Terrain Park will also be open with 25 features accessed by its own chairlift. Keystone real estate and Keystone rental properties are very popular among Front Range tourists and guests alike.
Other activities around Summit County Colorado are gearing up as well. In Frisco Colorado for example they are blowing snow in anticipation of the wonderful Frisco Peninsula tubing hill. Snowmaking was in full force this week. The venue which will be in its second year of winter operation will continue blowing snow this week the area is tentatively looking to open on Thanksgiving day depending on weather. The terrain park bigger and better for those who want to get out and jive for a couple of hours without the hassle of the big mountains recreation area is also planning for rail jams this winter which is a fun opportunity for young skiers and riders in summit County this area offers the complete package with to me a full Nordic center and dinner sleigh rides. It's a situation where you can come out and try it and it's less intimidating than the mountain we've got a very non-aggressive noncompetitive relaxed atmosphere 71 local mom we want to show them that these winter sports aren't necessarily intimidating. The operation will add two additional snow guns this year for a total of four snow guns the area will begin promoting beginners skiing and snowboarding terrain which is intended for children and folks who are new to the sport we really see it as a great local option for kids to come and hang out said one reporter from the Summit daily news getting someone like team summit on board gives us instant credibility we don't want to put anything out there that isn't totally professional and we have people within the community that can do just that. Frisco anticipates the rail jams will be mostly for juniors but old guys are welcome to take part as well.
