Goodbye Andy Rooney. You will be missed!
My husband is not an Andy Rooney fan; he says at the he was too grouchy!
I think at the age of 92 you have earned the right to say what is on your mind. He never forced anyone to listen nor was he asking anyone for anything. If you felt insulted by his comments, at least he said them in the open and not behind your back.
Maybe we need other out there to tell us like it is (in their opinion) rather than treating everyone and everything with “kid gloves”. Maybe it would help some people “deal with the issues” rather than just say it is unfair.
I myself admire Andy Rooney and honestly a bit jealous of his “lucky life”. I would love to get paid to say exactly what is on my mind. Then again, that is now all of who Andy Rooney is. Andy Rooney was a Veteran. He fought for our Country and our Freedom. He worked at the same place for over 30 years and ‘till the end “he was honored he was given the opportunity”. I truly think he did appreciate what he had.
I once aspired to be a columnist. My degree is in Journalism. Instead I sell Real Estate, and I enjoy it. But what a different world it must have been, being Andy Rooney. Never compromising, always standing on his principle (whether you agree with it or not doesn’t matter, it was his). He was a family man too. And don’t forget a woodworker. He lived an adventuress life and while I am sure there were plenty of downs, that is never what he complained about in this “tv essays”. He more complained about stuff everyone could potentially relate to. He was just real! I know not everyone was a fan. In fact you were either a fan or a counter curmudgeon – as I call my husband.
Goodnight Andy Rooney. RIP. You will not be forgotten.
[Death is a distant rumor to the young.
