I have been reading posts here in the Rain about what people are thankful for. In November, many people stop to think about what they are thankful for.... maybe it's because of Veteran's Day... or Thanksgiving... or that this month is the slight lull before the storm that is the end of the year....
I am so thankful for my family.
My husband and I met when we were just 21. Both of us were just finishing up school and we randomly met in a sports bar. (Haha! I love telling people that! But, it's true.) Funny thing is... I was on my way back to Boulder, Colorado, after lving a year in France, and he was on his way to study in France, Italy and Spain. He went to University in Toronto and was spending the summer working outside of Chicago- in the town where I grew up. Sparing you the sappy details, we both knew we had something special from the start.
We have been married for 16 years. This was after courting for 3 years. We had a fairly long engagment- a year and a half. We were married for about 3 years before we decided to have children, and it was another 2 years before we were blessed. And we are, truly, blessed.
I have learned so much from both my husband and my daughter.
They are sources of joy and sometimes frustration. I have learned patience, negotiating skills, organizational skills, teamwork, and delegation. I have learned computer skills, texting skills and bow-hunting skills. (Ok, that last one came form Napoleon Dynamite....)
And I have learned love. Love for self and love for others. I never knew I could love someone so much until I fell in love with my husband. And then I had my daughter and I learned love on a whole new level. And it grows every single day.
So thank you, John and Aubrey (and Daisy, too!).
