 UI or IT?

When you think about your personal and professional life, are you full of balance and harmony or does it look a little bit more like chaos?

I'd love to think I'm more of a UI person...my life flowing like a babbling brook to the sea...order and thoughfulnees filling my actions...and my bounty mirroring these zenful states.

But, sometimes, I end up feeling a little more IT than that.

When I get there, I tend to think of it a collective disorder... a piling up of the week's undone-ness. I'm not one of those people who feels comfortable with their disorganization.  I hate things that are out of place - piles of anything, paperwork unfiled, emails unreturned, customers who still need my help... makes me feel aggitated.  I don't like those reminders tugging on me, and pulling me away from moving into something new.  Those bits of IT glaring at me, telling me there's no rest in store.

When I start to get that chaotic feeling, I do all I can to get those proverbial piles of IT put away before the next day starts. I will stay up late until I find order again, just so I can wake the next day with no interuptions.  Ahhhhh.... it feels so much better to me to have all of IT done.

It gives me great pleasure when one of my customers shares with me that we helped them eliminate chaos from their lives by using our Property Managment software.   Today, Alicia from Wisconsin emailed to say "I had purchased __________ about 2 months ago and it was a NIGHTMARE.  In researching I found the reviews on REIbrain and Rentec  has been an answer to prayer!  It is so easy to use and track tenants late payments, print statements, deposits....I could go on..."

What pushes your buttons?  What do you have to get done in order to relax?

Janell:  As you know, every one is different.  I don't have any problem relaxing even when my chores are not completed.  That can obviously be both a blessing and a curse, as I am sure you will agree.

Thanks, Praful.  I remember the days when everything was tracked manually and I have lots of boxes of old paper files to prove it.  Thankfully, things can be done so much more efficiently now.  And Karen, you're right, there are blessings to be found in being at peace with how things are, no matter what the circumstance.

Janell:  I have read that happiness is not necessary found in seeing new things, but in seeing what you have... with new eyes.  Sounds pretty profound to me.
