Hanukkah or Chanukah? Which is it?

Doesn't matter.  The first was probably invented for all who have a problem with its pronunciaiton.  The latter is the original, however.  You have to reach down from the bottom of your throat to get it out though.  Takes a lot of practice.

Leave it up to Adam Sandler though to bring attention to Hanukkah this time of year.  You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy this, just have an open mind and a sense of humor.  Remember, Hanukkah and Christmas fall on the same time of year all the time.  My guess is this is more coincidence than anything else, but tends to put Hanukkah in the background since we are the minority.  Tomorrow, when all of the worlds Christians will be opening gifts, all of the worlds Jews will be lighting the sixth candle, a truly joyous day for all.

Cheers to having an open mind and a sense of humor, however you pronounce it Morris.

I know... I can't help it, I'm a smart-a$$.  Since it's a Hebrew word, there is no proper English spelling... Hanuka, Hanukah, Hannukah, Chanuka, Chanukah, Channukah are all some semblance of "correct".

Technically, the "Ch" sound should sound like phlegm... like you're trying to clear your throat... using what we call the "Checher"..  but since the American Palatte is not really used to that sound, many have taken to spelling (and pronouncing) it with a regular "H", just as Adam Sandler does.

Oh, well... it's the sentiment that counts... Happy Channukah to all and to all a good night!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

It was Christmas and the judge was in a merry mood as he asked the prisoner, "What are you charged with?"

"Doing my Christmas shopping early", replied the defendant.

"That's no offense", said the judge. "How early were you doing this shopping?"

"Before the store opened.
