Is Your Flame Burning Blue?
We purchased nice shiny stainless cookware after years of cooking on cast iron. It didn’t take but a few days and beautiful stainless was black and looked awful. We hand washed, called the cookware company and applied the supplies we were told to use to return the sparkling stainless. Nothing worked. I get in the kitchen determined to figure out what in the world was wrong. Danger! Danger! I noticed my wife had cleaned the gas stove top with a cleaner which had stopped up the gas holes around the burner eyes! The flame which should be burning nice blue was orange in color! I quickly turned the gas off and we picked the now harden cleaner from each hole on the stove eyes very carefully. This could have easily become a disaster and we could have had Carbon Monoxide poisoning!
Moral of the story: If you use a gas stove take an occasional notice of your flames. The flames should always be burning blue in color. If not you have a danger of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning not to mentioned ruined cookware! Is your flame burning blue?
