Being One of Many - Take a Number Please!

Real Estate Broker/Owner

This is a story that a friend of my mine related to me yesterday.  It seems not a day goes by where somethng someone does doesn't just amaze me.

My friend got a call from an agent who had moved to another state. This agent had been in the business in her original state for many years and was well networked.  She called my friend and told her she had resesarched her and like what she saw, that she was looking for an agent to refer clients to and would like to send a referral.  My friend was flattered and said great - "I love referrals".

The agent sent the referral, my friend prepared a CMA and called the client up to make an appointment. But wait a minute!

what do you mean you are interviewing 12 agents and have a small window for me at 3pm???!!!

Seems the referring agent referred 2 or 3 agents from each large office in the area.

Would you go?

Miriam,

12 agents?  I can see why the agent might have referred a few other agents, but I would call her and find out her reasoning's why.  Was she conscience of personality type or side of town, etc.  OR was she doing this to make other connections in the community.

Why would a Seller need to think that they would have to interview 12 agents?  Seems that the referring Broker might have a conversation with said Sellers BEFORE I would walk through that door!

I am not a listing broker, so it is really difficult for me to answer. I gues if I were, then I would be more confident in this and might consider it a good chance.

It is still a bit weird
