Lake in the Hills goings on.
Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Dept. continues to fund the village's path projects with a grant awarded three years ago. Currently there are 12 miles of paved trails and the grant continues to fund expansion in an effort to link paths from neighboring communities such as Huntley. Today, residents can take the trails from Reed Road to Haligus Road and from Larsen Park to the McHenry County Prairie Trail. Cooperation between agencies is allowing the path to get to the point where everything is really connecting. What a great benefit to have a way people can walk, bike, or skate throughout the community instead of driving!
Lunch with a Cop Program - The Lake in the Hills Police Dept. held its Lunch with a Cop Program on Friday, Nov. 9th teaching children how to stay safe in potentially dangerous situations. This program was started twenty years ago and takes place four times per year. This program is free of charge and the children receive educational materials, eat pizza, see some of the police equipment, and get to see a puppet show that teaches them about safety. The goal is for the children to walk away with safety tips and with a positive attitude toward police.
