Virginia has some of the most magnificent wineries in the country and several are right here in Stafford County.  One such rare find is the brand new Potomac Point Winery in the Widewater section of Stafford County.  Surrounded by beautiful countryside and minutes from the Potomac River, this impressive facility is a magnificent addition to the county's landscape.

Rated among the Top Ten Wineries in Virginia by the Virginia Wine Festival 2007 Poll and also listed as 'Top Five Not-to-Be Missed Stunning Wedding Sites' in the Fall/Winter issue of Virginia Bride magazine, this winery is a delicious experience.  I visited to get some pictures and found a very helpful staff and gorgeous, relaxing atmosphere.  Stop by this weekend for their Holiday Open House.  There'll be LOTS of treats for the both the young and young-at-heart!

Wineries are springing up everywhere. Here is New York we see small, unique, family run wineries.

Hi Irene - what a really nice way to show off this winery in your area. Great pictures, and if I were in that area, this post would make me want to head right on over! For being a brand new winery, they've sure won some top accolades already! Ann

Shame on me...I did not even know about this winery.  Thanks for the info I think that may be fun to visit on Sunday.  Saturday will be spent watching the football game.  Go Hokies!  How about some directions?  Thanks again Irene.  I am assuming it is also kid friendly?

OK Irene,

I'm getting a little annoyed!  You keep posting these great open houses (many with wine!!!) and I'm just too far away to get to any!  How dare you keep taunting me like that!!!  I am insisting that you stop posting and teasing those of us too far away!

(No ... not really!  Enjoy the open house... wish I could be there!)

Rosario - Apparently, the same thing is going on in Virginia.  I knew about lots of vineyards in the Blue Ridge area but all of a sudden they're showing up everywhere!

Allen - Not exactly Napa Valley but it's very nice!

Ann - That's exactly what I thought and with 3 daughters their wedding facilities look beautiful...they're very excited - now they just need a groom. LOL

Suzanne - It really is pretty.  I was very impressed with the facility.

Dawn - You and me both!  I sold a house on Decatur back in the summer of 2005 and hadn't been back since.  My clients came over for a Halloween party and told me that there was a vineyard near their old house and I was stunned...I was SO impressed with the place.

Martin - You are too funny.  But hey!  You're coming in May and I'm sure there'll be another open house for spring. I'll send you a reminder when it comes up.
