Sleighbells = A fun time and a Christmas tree

Christmas time 2007 brings yet another hunt for the perfect Christmas tree, and we have found it at Sleighbells in Sherwood, Oregon.

The family, as usual, went out as the festive Christmas spirit abounded.  We found our tree, cut it down, and while we waited for them to bundle our tree, we went in for hot cocoa as a family. (This is something they offer for free while you wait.)

Here is the family in front of our new tree, shortly before we cut it down.

Here are a few photos of the Sleighbells Christmas tree farm and shop that is open year round to buy festive Christmas items and decorations.

After we got the tree, with all the recent rains here in Oregon, that the kids were just too muddy to put in my Jeep, and I decided to tie them to the top with the tree.

Merry Christmas

So much fun to find your own tree. I used to do that as a kid with my parents.  Good memories.

Todd- So, the kids are riding on top with the tree......my only question is do you still have to drive through the flooded streets?  that could make for a very messy tree when you get home...don't woryy about the kids, they'll have fallen off before you get home LOL :)

Jeff - You still can!

James - It is a blast, just bring gloves and a plastic bag to put your knees on when you cut down the tree.

Kathy - Flooded streets here are all gone but one. Up north in Washington there are still some, but we are recovering.

Linda - Tolerant they are! They have learned dad will have fun with them at any time.

Todd - I love going out and picking out a Christmas tree.  They smell sooooo good. The trip is very exciting, too.  The last time we cut a tree, though, was 21 years ago when our oldest daughter was less than a month old. It was unusually cold here in Houston . . .which made it so much more fun. We had a hayride to find our tree and the hot chocolate at the end of the ride.  I was so excited to get our tree up and decorated.  My husband got real sick and couldn't celebrate Christmas with the family on Christmas day.  We found out that he was very allergic to them.  We've had an artificial tree since then.  But you know . . .I will never forget that last trip to cut down our very own tree . . . it was wonderful . . .and it's a great memory.
