As this year heads toward its close and a new year looms in the not-to-distant future, many of us have begun to think about 2008.
We've begun our business planning. If you are a REALTOR or anyone who is self-employed, this is extremely important. And we've begun to think about our New Year's Resolutions, which can mean revisiting the resolutions that we made for this year - thinking about the ones we've kept - and more likely - obsessing about the ones we haven't kept.
If you're like me, the resolutions you haven't kept loom larger in your mind than the ones you have, and the goals you didn't meet are more glaring than the ones you did.
So as you reflect on the past year, I'd like to suggest that you emphasize the resolutions you did keep and the goals you did meet.
I say look back at your resolutions, business goals, etc., whether you have a physical list or just a checklist in your head. Give yourself a pat on the back, a thumbs up, for the stuff you DID do! After all, don't you feel more motivated when you feel good about yourself?
So as you make your plans and goals and resolutions for 2008, sit down and take a few moments to get in the right frame of mind - a positive, "I'm Proud of Me" frame of mind. You may be surprised at how different your outlook will be.
And if you can't take my word for it, take a moment to watch this video and take it from a very wise friend of mine...
