They don't really look like that when you go? Do they?

I was showing a slide show to someone at a Realty office the other day and she couldn't believe the before photos. In fact she thought I had 'staged' them for effect.

My answer .... no, they are real photos of exactly what I saw in the homes.

That's the difference Staging can make in your MLS photos.

It is the difference between the way we live in a home and the way we sell the home. Knowing what to remove from your Burlington, Oakville or Milton home can be a simple as getting a Staging Consult. The report is full of ideas specific to your home.

Have a look at these examples of Before and After photos and see the difference between living and selling.

Remember, the buyer's perception is their reality.

Most Buyers start their home search on the Internet.

Make sure your MLS photos show your home at its best.

Prepare your home for sale before your house goes on the market.

Janice - it's so true! We DON"T live in staged homes, but that's how we sell them. If you don't take the time to prepare your home for the market, professionally stage buyers will move onto your competition!

So many people can't understand that simple concept: You don't sell a home the same way you live in a home.

Those who say they can "take it as it is or leave it" generally find that buyers will "leave it."

Janice, I love your comment about the photos!  Had an agent who had a great listing, well priced, few showings and really negative feedback. When I looked at it on-line, the photos were poorly lit, bad angles, no staging.  No wonder!  I worked with her to take the listing down, and start all over!  We had owners clean up all personal items, except for just a few things, we took 25 well-lit photos from interesting view points, and re-listed the home.  Had 8 showings the first week, and an offer on day 7!  I'm a believer, and she is now, too!

Janice, great B&A's! Too funny that the agent thought you had doctored the before's to look worse! I love your comment about selling and living in a home. Two - totally - different - things!

Love your comment about staging a home and living in a home..............very different indeed!  Same for me as a decorator, if previous clients saw my apartment, they'd never hire me...............LOL.  It's filled with things that I like and that I make work together.............not what I would do for a client, unless that was their choice.

Yes the will Kristine! Sellers need to make every effort to beat their competition. Give buyers a reason to choose their house over others.

Peg, I'd never had that reaction before LOL. You can live and way you like but when you sell, it's time to market your home.

Isn't that the truth Roger! I certainly don't live 'staged' anymore than my clients LOL. If I ever sell, I'd have lots of work to do ;).

OH the thinks we see in people's homes! I cannot believe how some people live. We all have messes sometimes but I see things that are disgusting.

Me too Shar! Everybody lives the way they want to but they can't sell that way.

I wouldn't buy a car that looked like it does when I am using it, why would a buy a home that way.

Great post.  I always mention to my clients as well living in a staged home is difficult but that is how you have to live until it sells.  Potential buyers need to see the property at its absolute best!
