Did you know tomorrow is World Water Day?
Water is a valuable resource, and clean water is something we often take for advantage:
Here are some easy tips you can use to lower your water usage (or water footprint):
- Take shorter showers, under 5 minutes or about two songs. This can save 13 gallons per morning per shower.
- Use your dishwasher! I know, this sounds like bad advice, but your dishwasher does a better job washing dishes than you do. Lose the pre-rinse cycle, and the heated drying. Want to be even more efficient? Run yours when it's cooler, like overnight (which is what I do), so you don't make your AC work harder while you wash your dishes. This can save another 425 gallons of water when you run your FULL dishwasher.
- Go meatless. Burgers use more water than veggies. Trading off meat for one month can save 620 gallons!
So, celebrate World Water Day with a shorter shower, a veggie meal filled day, and your dishwasher!
