None of us are going to stay up to greet the New Year—most of us have seen 75 or more new years! So we will extend to all our gentle readers a HAPPY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
We did not have a white Christmas—but we’re having a white New Years Eve!

Reflections from my Back Porch, (a 01 January 07 Post Update)
Jay Merton, Official Chronicler for the Retired Codgers™It’s a cool +24ºF, with a bit of a breeze, which means I won’t do a lot of reflecting actually from my back porch this morning as my china, not stoneware mug of non-descript (a gift from a well-meaning neighbor, who doesn’t understand that I am a “coffee-snob”) coffee, will cool much too rapidly. There is about an inch of fresh snow on the ground—not enough to fire up the snow-blower—but still it’s pretty to look at—I may have a different opinion later as I clear my sidewalk!
(According to the Weather Channel: “Current conditions as of 3:53 am CST: Fair Sky, Feels Like (Wind Chill): +17°F, Barometer: 29.93 in and rising, Humidity: 66%, Visibility: 10mi, Dewpoint: 20°F, Wind: NW @ 15mph, Sunrise: 7:50 am, Sunset: 4:41 pm.”)
So this addendum to our last post of 2006, will serve as our first post of 2007. I’ve been told by other “Bloggists™” (My new replacement term for “Blogger”), that one should leave a post out there a little longer as it seems to generate more comments that way—be a little less of a prolific-poster.
2006: We joined the AR community 16 September 2006, 3 months & 15 days ago (as of year’s end), and in that time we’ve posted 134 times, and accumulated some 40,732 points: Profile: 705, Blogging Points: 29,627, Comments: 9,850, Linking: 400, and Other: 150. We were featured 6 times. This breaks down to some interesting percentages: Blogging Points: 29,627, or 73%, Comment Points: 9,850, or 24%, Blogging & Comment Total: 29,627, or 73% of total points. WOW! I guess we were a tad prolific, that’s about 38 posts/month! It has been a lot of fun for Medford and me.
2007: We have made our collective “New Year’s Resolution,” as applied to the Active Rain community: To be a bit less the “prolific-posters” (most of our posts are the work of hours—not a few minutes of “blazing keyboarding”—just to enter our content, much less researching), both Med and I are very, very, slow keyboardists, and to continue the fun we’ve had being a part of this community!
For the “Codgers:”
