Lover's Key State park is one of Florida's most visited park in the entire state. Lover's Key is located in Lee County, Florida and is one of the many barrier islands along the Gulf coast. Lover's key is a wonderful place to go in order to enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer. You can walk the beach, look for shells, watch for dolphins, or watch for the various varieties of coastal birds which we have down here. The beach here is Huge every since the state re-nourished it a couple years ago. If you had ever visited the beach in the past before it was re-nourished and then saw it now .... You would be amazed. I personally liked the beach better before they added all the sand to make it bigger, but it was something that needed to be done. Hurricane Charlie washed out many of the trees along the shore and if they had not added sand, the island was in jeopardy of slipping under the waves ....literally. This picture is from before the beach was re-nourished. 
See this gazebo ....before sand was added to the beach, this building was partially standing in the surf. It is now about 100 yards from the waters edge. 
What is there to do on Lover's Key? The possibilities are endless .... Walk the beach, walk the trails, rent a kayak and paddle the backwater or rent a bike and ride around the island. You can enjoy bird watching or people watching. They have a tram to take you from the beach from the parking area, which is of great relief because I seem to always be tired after walking the beach. Lover's Key is in close proximity to Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, and Naples. There is only one road to take you to the park, so it's hard to get lost.
