Oldest WW I Vet Dies!

By
Real Estate Agent with QUEST REALTY SERVICES

We can't forget the men and women who sacrificed so that the rest of us may enjoy the rights and freedoms we cherish so dearly!

The oldest known living U.S. veteran of World War I, J. Russell Coffey a retired teacher, one of only three U.S. veterans still alive from the "war to end all wars," died at the ripe old age of 109.

More than 4.7 million Americans joined the military from 1917-1918. The two remaining U.S. veterans are Frank Buckles, 106, of Charles Town, W.Va.; and Harry Richard Landis, 108, of Sun City Center, Fla., according to the Veterans Affairs Department.

Can you imagine listening to his war stories or just stories about the "good ole days".

May he rest in peace!

Thanks for passing that along. I had not seen it in the news. One more memory gone.

Great post. I believe the History channel or the Military channel does something for the vets of WW1 a sounds of the war or something like that. This allows everyone to hear about their tale of the war. Sad to hear about him but he can now enjoy peace.

He is at peace. And he's having a blast talking to the saints. Bless him.

Wow! That is utterly amazing 109. It is always sad when a piece of history dies, and he definitely fits that category.

I do hope someone captured some of those stories. Now that my Dad is gone (94) I wish we had written his stories on life down.  I am already starting to forget the details.

The memories of that war are NOT lost in Gods heart.....

The heroic acts.. the courage.. the battles fought and won...

I am sure some of those faithful soliders are going to be
the Army of the King of kings and Lord of lords....

What a battle that day will be!!
