Each year, last Monday in May we celebrate Memorial Day holiday gather with family and friends, attend parades, and honor those who lost their lives for our freedom. This year Memorial Day will take place on Monday, May 28th, 2012. Memorial Day was first observed on May 30, 1868, flowers were placed on soldiers graves at Arlington National Cemetery. New York was the first state to officially recognize the holiday in 1873.
