Quick & Easy Setup to Open MANY Home Pages With ONE CLICK *Update*

By
Real Estate Agent with Liberty Homes RS-#62825

Are you a multi tasker? Do you like to open MANY windows in IE at one time so you can utilize and get the MOST out of your time by searching the MLS, ActiveRain, other research or socializing sites at the click of a tab? (Don't forget that you also have Outlook or your Internet based email open as well. :)\

My day is mostly spent online whether at home or at the office because the internet and my office applications ARE surely the core of my work process for my business. From the time I get up in the morning I am checking my email first, ActiveRain second. Now that I'm positively reinforced with information, positive reading and up to date happenings around the nation I can start my "work" by clicking on each of my prospects in my Client Gateway on our MLS system.

First of all, copy the page addresses (above) that you want to open at the same time you open Internet Explorer such as ActiveRain and your MLS and maybe a favorite news page.

  • On your IE top toolbar click on Tools and Internet Options. (if you're not on the internet, go to Start, Control Panel and Internet Options)
  • Insert all the web addresses you want to open on startup of the internet in the "Home page" box (right)
  • Click "apply" at the bottom right
  • Close the Internet Options box by clicking "OK".
  • UPDATE: Though IE7 comes with tabs preset....if it isn't then (picture to right) click on the "Tab" Settings button and click restore defaults and you'll be good to go. :)

Now, click on Internet Explorer and voila!

You have all your preferred home page windows open and with a click on each preset tab (picture below) what more could you ask for! So now you're all set up you never have to worry about wasting those precious extra seconds to open another one of your favorite web pages :)

Note: Keep adding addresses as needed :)

Note Number 2:  Keep in mind this is only for the internet. If you are a TRUE multi tasker then you will have many other programs, files and so forth open as well. Such as your Email (Outlook) open, a tax spreadsheet you're working on for your business expenses, your MLS open, your other "to do's" that you're working on (maybe printing out a relo packet to send out or a listing agreement to meet with clients in a few) and so forth. There's ALWAYS plenty to do in our business....isn't there?

Wow, Sally, what a great tip! I've never done that but you can be sure I will now. My latest "toy" is having two monitors - saves printing lots of pages because I can see the information on one monitor and input it on the other. Of course Norm puts that to shame with THREE monitors!

Hi Sally - I just sent the link to this post to my honey.  He works with a number of sites open, and this might just help him out, if he doesn't already do this and know this nifty little tip.

Great tip!  I never really thought of that.  Since I tend to be a web page creator, I am normally in many different windows, but they are new ones all the time!

Sally - Great tip for us multitaskers. I am now an avid Mozilla groupie and love the multiple tabs function. I always have many windows open, Internet and otherwise. It's part of the fun, right?

Sally- Thank you! Great info on saving a step in opening up sites. I use Firefox and when I open up Firefox in the morning it asks me if I want to resume my web pages I had open when I closed it down the night before, click yes and all my windows open up with multiple web sites that I need to work on.
