Tip Jar: Adopt a Bad Girl

By
Real Estate Agent with The Somers Team at KW Philadelphia

It was one year ago today that we adopted the light of my life "BG" or "Beej" which is short (sort for Bad Girl). When we met she was just a little patchwork of fur that I could hold in one hand (see photo). I remember the day I saw her cute little face in a cage hanging out with with her orphan friends at Chic Petique in Liberties Walk. It was love at first sight. When we took her home she was so bad! She got into everything. Needless to say BG still lives up to her name today, that's for sure! In hindsight, perhaps we should have named her Good Girl. The Bad Girl name may have been a self-fulfilling prophecy. What do you think?

In my neighborhood, Northern Liberties, there are a few places you can go to to learn more about adoption such as:

PAWS (the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society)

Operation Ava

Adopt a Pet

Philadelphia offers dozens of adoption centers and pet shops. There are so many wonderful pets that need adoption. I know a pet is not for everyone but if you have been wanting to add more joy and meaning to your life, I strongly recommend adopting a Bad Girl like we did.

Our adoptee from 18 months ago is named Alley Cat from her humble beginnings.  However her nickname is crack kitty as she gets into everything and has random moments of insanity.  Love her anyway, especially when she is sleeping.  Glad BG has fit well into the Somers house.

Good for you! Shelter animals are the best. Our shelter cat is Cashew and we've had him for six years now. Been thinking of getting another one, but don't know how our four shelter dogs would take to a new one since Cashew came before the dogs.

I love the adult photo of her, she looks like she's very intelligent and full of spunk.  Isn't that the reason we love cats?

Gretchen- I think it is fantastic that you have chosen to rescue the animals from a shelter.

Gail- BG is as smart as she is bad, you are right!
