Boca Raton Interior Redesign  FAQ’s-Got the Picture!

Whether you’re selling your home in Boca Raton or are planning a DIY Get the picturehome project, these Boca Raton Home Interior Redesign FAQ tips can help you bring order to your pictures.    Often I see clients take great pains in maintaining their home and making sure things are just so but when they decide to hang their treasures it’s as if they see a blank space, grab their hammer and nails and as long as it’s straight and doesn’t fall down consider it done.

Put the hammer down!

Hanging pictures is not a mystical trick that only trained decorators know.
And keep in mind while there are guidelines,  it’s still your home and you choose the rules!

Tip - Every blank wall does not have to have something on it and

every picture you own does not have to be hung.

Something I see in so many homes is that photos, pictures, artwork are hung in any blank space there is with disregard for size, space or visual impact.

Tip-Sofas-pictures hung above a sofa should be between 4-8 inches (some say 3-6, others 5-9”).  The point is you don’t want a lot of space between the top of your sofa and the bottom of your picture.   Visually you want the viewer to take in the sofa and picture as a whole.

One other point- you don’t want your picture (or picture area)  to be longer than your sofa.  Always keep proportion.. having  your picture cover about ⅔ of the wall above the sofa.

Tip-  Look Me in the Eye!  I think we’ve all heard this... hang your pictures at eye level- roughly having the center of the picture between 60-65” off the floor.  An exception?  If the art is hung in the dining room, for example, where the viewing is from a seated position, then you can groups of picturesgo lower.

Tip- In staging we speak of “clutter”... to me that translates to distracting.  The same could be said of too many small pictures scattered on the wall.  A better option would be larger pictures of groupings where each group is like one larger picture.

Tip- Size does matter.   Admit it... you’ve cringed when you saw this little picture on a big wall.  Distracting isn’t it?  Or conversely when the wall seemed to be engulfed by this too large picture.
