There has been so much bad news lately coming out of the state of Colorado! From fires to shootings it's been rough.
Since I love my home state, would it suprise you, to tell you, that I get all giddy, to hear ANY good news about our state? Regardless of the subject - if it's good, I'll take it.
Usually 'rankings' catch my eye and I feel helplessly drawn to the "Top 10 of" whatever. I couldn't resist this headline: "Closing costs: 5 most and least expensive states" I had to see how Colorado is in the mix....
So glad to see, Colorado is ranked 3rd cheapest in the US:
Based on a $200,000 mortgage the figures are estimated at:
- Bank origination fees: $1,512
- Third-party fees, appraisals and title insurance: $1,687
- Closing costs: $3,199
$3,199 is only less than a couple hundred bucks more than the cheapest state -Missouri.
It was determined that New York is the priciest state in the nation for closing costs:
- Bank origination fees: $1,183
- Third-party fees, appraisals and title insurance: $3,622
- Closing costs: $5,435
Oklahoma, Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas are in the rest of the "ugly 5"
Find the least costs in Arkansas, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas with the cheapest closing cost in the nation to be found in:
Missouri
- Bank origination fees: $1,553
- Third-party fees, appraisals and title insurance: $1,453
- Closing costs: $3,006
These numbers are estimates. As a savvy consumer and a great lender you will know that you might still be able to cut one or the other corner!
