Sometimes you just need to get out. Dance. Meet new people. Forget about everything and everyone else! Last weekend The Lounge answered the call for a laid back girls night out at The Comfort Inn, just off I-80 on Rt. 611 in Bartonsville.

We got there close to midnight, so were a little disappointed to walk in and find it so sparse. Apparently, we chose the one Friday in October there wasn’t some kind of event planned. But the low amber lighting, sweet. Warm cushy couches, sweeter. Rocky patio window watchers, maybe added a little spice. But party animals, where were you? Luckily we didn’t care more than a minute and sashayed straight to the bar.

The drinks came fast and furious, no slackers working there. Bartenders, all male and all muscle, need I say more? Their great martini menu tempted us too, but we decided to keep it simple for once. The DJ got us going with a fun mix of hip-hop, reggae and who-knows-what, we just liked it. Eventually bouncers delivered their charming coup de gras—cheekily pushing us out come closing time, pointing the way to after-hour attractions.

But up until that point we honed our side of the dance floor into a finely flayed edge of laughter and la-la girly good times. People were outside too, watching the crowd, watching the stars… watching the summer drift off like smoke on that Pocono patio. We just kept on dancing.
