Are You Creating 'Hotel Bedroom Looks' for Staging?

When  I'm teaching the 5 day PRES staging and redesign course I love to emphasize how important master bedrooms are, and why we want to give them the best look possible. After all they are the buyers and if we entice them into loving the look of the bedroom we have them one step closer to buying!

If we have to use what the home sellers have, and it's not good enough, I do request that they go out and purchase some new gorgeous bedding that gives the room that 'hotel look'. If it's vacant staging it's easier because we can bring in really gorgeous sets and headboards, side tables, lamps, art, etc that is new and works for their potential buyer.

Soft blues and beiges work really well together.

Here are a few rental bedding suites from a local Vancouver company Fluff Rentals.

I'd be interested in knowing what your thoughts are and your what favorite look is!

I love this clean look.  Crisp and inviting and not a sensory overload!

Paula I totally agree - sellers have budgets that we need to work with and I like clean and simple so sellers get a sense of the space, and the emotions are going!

I like the second photo better than the first, primarily because of the placement of the pillows.  Maybe it seems insignificant, but I don't like seeing where the mattress ends and the headboard starts.  It doesn't look as finished or as lux as it could.  I do like the bedding, though; I like seeing patterns and colors on the bed as it gives interest to the room.

Monica - Thanks for the comment. I do agree with you. I could have hung the headboard but since this was a total reno in this home the seller requested as few nails as possible so this seemed like a good solution.

Dana, I am a firm believer in creating a romantic, calm and relaxing space in the master bedroom.  Vacants as you mentioned are much easier for the reasons mentioned.  For occupieds i assist my clients in preparing their master bedroom to as close to a vacant as possible.  Most people do understand while others...let's just say they do the best they can.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Wendy. Every room we stage is about creating the 'right feeling' that will make the potential buyer fall in love with the room. Occupieds can be trickier and we need to use tact when we find their bedding is somewhat lacking - which is why I love Home Sense/Home Goods for the best looking bedding for the best price.
