From Miami FL to New York City - German Tourists Hitch Hiking

This was the first time in over 22 years in Venice, I have seen German Tourists hitch hiking from Miami FL to New York City. Their names are Dodos and Pablos from Berlin Germany.

My husband and I met them at Wal-Mart during our grocery shopping in the evening. The park for camping was closed, so we offered them dinner and to stay overnight at our home. They were hitch hiking from Miami to Naples Florida, and decided to ride on bicycles for the rest of their journey. We gave them maps and information on things to see in the area. They requested a group picture before they continued their journey to New York City.

We wish them a fantastic and safe travel.

Well, Kwee, how nice (and trusting) are YOU!!! You don't hear much about hitchhiking these days, let alone in a positive light...and to take them home for dinner meant that all four of you trusted one another. I wonder what they do with their bikes when they hitchhike? It kinda lessens their odds for getting rides.

So, what did you cook for them??

Hi Gayle, Caucasian hitch hiking in Malaysia used to be very common, however never seen it in this country. They are polite young adults. Nothing special, they ate what we ate chicken, rice and vegetables.

You and your husband are very special people with servant hearts. I know these people really appreciated what you did for them and they will never forget you. When I worked at a summer camp that had mostly foreign camp counselors, I learned it was common for them to travel like this, staying wherever they could lay their heads. But from my experience, they didn't just spend one night, they stayed for several or as long as you'd let them!

While many people could be shocked, I'm not surprised. You have a good heart and it shows in all the things you do here on ActiveRain and behind the scenes like sending out your calendar magnets to people like myself who really appreciate them.
