Wallpaper is a NO, NO, It has GOT TO GO, GO!!

Home Stager with ReStyled to Sell Home Staging New Jersey

When selling your home it is important to remember that the way you sell your home and the way you lived in your home are entirely two different things. Detaching yourself from your home is the first thing you MUST DO as a seller when preparing for the real estate market. I know, this can be very hard, but I always advise my clients to take a breath, ahhh, okay, now breathe deeply and let go. I then put my arm around them and tell them it will be okay, but now they must leave the house, let us do our job and they can come back tomorrow for the reveal....

And what do I hear when they come back?? WOW, I cannot believe it is the same house, we should have did this years ago

So I ask you, why are you still hanging onto the dated wallpaper? Call ReStyled to Sell Home Staging NJ and let us prepare your home for the competitive real estate market, you will be glad you did.

Phyllis, How cool this room turned out. The "new" walls look great. And your decision to place the table at this angle is just perfect. Adding interest without overpowering! Yea!

Your article gave me some good ideas about improving my "wordage" to sellers about making thier home more marketable, especially "the way you sell your home and the way you lived in your home are entirely two different things". Thanks Phylis.

I agree...wallpaper can be the kiss of death....it's just hard to remove, and i have had buyers walk away from a house becuase if it.

I agree that wallpaper in general needs to be removed.  The hard part is convincing the homeowner to do the work or to pay someone to do it for them.  It does make a huge difference in updating the whole house.  Nice call!

I think a lot of homeowners don't particularly like their wallpaper,  they just percieve it to be too much trouble to remove it.  Photos like this really show the value in taking it down.  What color did you use on the walls?

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments...HEY JUDY...the color I used is Butter Toffee 1067 by Benjamin Moore, it is a great color and I use it quite often.

I just a Bassett catalog today and it had wallpaper hanging in several of the rooms.  Oh, I hope it's not coming back...don't like it!

Wallpaper or wall coverings are making a come back, but I would not use them in selling but in designing,,why not? If you notice the come back is more as accents rather than all the walls in a room.

Convincing homeowners to remove dated wallpaper is always a challenge.  Let's face it, it is not a fun task.  However, the transformation is always well worth the effort.

Nice work!

Hi Phyllis,  I also love that Benjamin Moore color for the walls you selected.  We often recommend a similar Sherwin Williams color, Ivorie, which is a nice warm neutral with a hint of golden yellow.  Looks good just about anywhere!
