Ain't Technology grand!!!

Ain't Technology Grand! Awesome line uttered by John Travolta in the highly forgettable move Broken Arrow. For the umpteenth time, I had a client tell me that they lost documents in an ICloud incident.  Without my permission, ICloud decided to add a bunch of lousy music to my ITunes playlist and it deleted songs that I PAID to download.  ICloud has butchered my contacts list too. However, I know better than to trust anything of real value to an Apple product.

They have an annoying tendency to release products long before they are ready for market. My iPhone5 is a disgrace. Worst phone that I have ever had and that goes back to the 80's when my cell had a carrying case!! It was telling when I stopped into the Apple Store and the quasi genius at the genius bar had a Samsung Galaxy. They apparently have forgotten the lost are of DEBUGGING.

Apple

Today, a client lost many time sensitive documents that they stored on iCloud. It is a foreclosure/bankruptcy matter and it is critical that they get the documents to me..... TODAY! The wife is in tears...."we trusted the cloud". Well, guess what, we cannot trust Apple to get anything right. Ninety percent of their employees and ninety percent of their cash is in China. many zealots vie them as a "Great American Company". HAH

I am at a loss to understand the loyalty to a company that routinely releases products that are not ready for market.  They had PLENTY of time on the Iphone 5 for example. It was released more than a year after its scheduled release date. AND IT STILL HAS MANY PROBLEMS!!!

Anyone else had these problems???

Good Morning, Paddy. The cloud is still in development and is not bullet proof. I have an inside track on this. I am an old IT guy and store noting on the cloud. I have 2 hard drive back-ups on everything...

Broken Arrow has a great support actor in Howie Long whose family has lived in our area for over a decade....if nothing else, the movie teaches you to not discharge a firearm NEAR THE THERMONUCLEAR DEVICE!

Paddy -- I second Michael's (#1) comment about getting things on multiple hard drives, just to be safe.  Unfortunately, I think Apple has been taking too many lessons from an unnamed software developer in our area who is notorious for releasing product that is seriously flawed, and then letting consumers find the flaws for them.
